Skin Boosters

Skin boosters are prescription-only injectable treatments that are designed to improve overall skin quality and hydration. As these treatments are prescription medicines, they can only be prescribed following a consultation with a qualified health practitioner to determine whether they are appropriate for you.

At Melbourne Skin, our Cosmetic Nurse provides comprehensive consultations to assess your skin concerns, medical history, and suitability for treatment. During your consultation, a personalised treatment plan will be developed based on your individual needs and goals.

Depending on your clinical assessment, your practitioner may discuss treatment options that focus on improving skin hydration, texture, and overall skin quality.

As prescription-only medicines, we are unable to advertise specific treatment details or expected outcomes online. Further information, including whether a treatment is suitable for you, will be discussed during your consultation with our qualified Cosmetic Nurse.

A consultation is required prior to any treatment to determine your suitability and discuss the potential benefits, risks, expected outcomes, and associated costs.

Please note: Individual results vary. All cosmetic medical procedures carry risks and potential side effects. Your treating practitioner will discuss these with you during your consultation before proceeding with any treatment.

During your consultation, our qualified Cosmetic Nurse will assess your skin and discuss your individual concerns to determine whether a prescription-only skin booster may be appropriate for you.

Concerns that may be discussed include:

  • Skin hydration
  • Overall skin quality
  • Skin texture
  • Fine lines
  • Skin laxity
  • General signs of skin ageing

A personalised treatment plan will be developed based on your clinical assessment, medical history, and treatment goals.

Please note: Skin boosters are prescription-only medicines. A consultation is required to determine your suitability for treatment. Individual results vary, and all cosmetic medical procedures carry risks and potential side effects, which will be discussed with you by your treating practitioner before any treatment is undertaken.

As with any cosmetic medical procedure, prescription-only injectable treatments carry potential risks and side effects. Before proceeding, your treating Cosmetic Nurse will discuss these with you in detail, ensuring you understand the treatment, expected recovery, and any potential complications so you can make an informed decision.

Common side effects may include temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising, itching, or small lumps at the injection sites. These effects are generally mild and typically resolve within a few days.

Less common risks, including infection, allergic reactions, or vascular complications, can occur with any injectable treatment. While these events are uncommon, all appropriate precautions are taken to minimise risk.

A thorough consultation and medical assessment are performed prior to treatment to determine your suitability. Individual results vary, and all cosmetic medical procedures should be performed by appropriately qualified and experienced healthcare professionals.

Pre-Treatment Care

To help ensure a safe procedure and minimise the risk of bruising or complications, please follow these guidelines:

  • Attend your appointment with clean skin free from makeup where possible.
  • Inform your Cosmetic Nurse of any changes to your medical history, medications, allergies, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are feeling unwell, have an active skin infection, cold sore, or irritation in the treatment area, please contact the clinic as your appointment may need to be rescheduled.
  • Where medically appropriate and approved by your treating doctor, avoiding blood-thinning medications or supplements (such as aspirin, fish oil, or vitamin E) for several days prior to treatment may help reduce bruising. Do not cease any prescribed medication without first consulting your prescribing doctor.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before your appointment where possible, as it may increase the likelihood of bruising.

Post-Treatment Care

Following treatment, it is normal to experience mild redness, swelling, tenderness, or bruising at the injection sites. These effects are usually temporary and settle within a few days.

To support healing, we recommend:

  • Avoid touching or massaging the treated area unless specifically instructed by your Cosmetic Nurse.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, hot baths, and excessive heat for 24 hours.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours following treatment.
  • Avoid applying makeup to the treated area for approximately 12–24 hours, or as advised by your practitioner.
  • Continue to wear SPF 50+ and protect your skin from excessive sun exposure.
  • Stay well hydrated and follow any personalised aftercare instructions provided by your Cosmetic Nurse.
  • If bruising occurs, it will usually resolve naturally over several days.

As skin boosters are prescription-only treatments, pricing cannot be advertised online.

A comprehensive consultation with our qualified Cosmetic Nurse is required to assess your suitability and develop a personalised treatment plan. Following your assessment, you will be provided with a detailed treatment recommendation, including all associated costs, allowing you to make an informed decision before proceeding.
