Lumecca IPL

Lumecca IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is an advanced, non-invasive treatment designed to target and correct a wide range of skin concerns by harnessing powerful light energy. Known for its precision and efficacy, Lumecca delivers high-intensity light pulses to the deeper layers of the skin, stimulating collagen production and breaking down pigmentation or vascular lesions. This innovative technology effectively reduces the appearance of sun damage, pigmentation, redness, and uneven skin tone, leaving your skin clearer, brighter, and more youthful.

Lumecca IPL is a versatile treatment that can address various skin concerns, including:

Sun damage and pigmentation (sunspots, age spots, and freckles)

Vascular lesions (spider veins and broken capillaries)

Rosacea and redness

Uneven skin tone and texture

Discoloured Acne Scars

Fine lines and early signs of ageing

Overall skin rejuvenation

Lumecca IPL is safe for most skin types; however, certain conditions may prevent treatment, including:

  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Photosensitivity or recent use of photosensitizing medications (e.g., Accutane)
  • Active skin infections or conditions (e.g., eczema, psoriasis, or severe acne)
  • Recent sun exposure or use of tanning products

Consult with your clinician to determine if Lumecca IPL is right for you.

Lumecca IPL is generally very well tolerated by most clients. You may feel a warm sensation or a quick, light flick against the skin with each pulse of light, but the treatment is typically fast and comfortable. Most clients find there is little to no discomfort, and the built-in cooling system helps make the treatment even more comfortable.

Lumecca IPL is a safe and effective treatment when performed by our highly trained and experienced clinicians. Before your treatment, we complete a comprehensive consultation to ensure you are a suitable candidate and tailor the treatment to your skin type and concerns.

As with any skin treatment, temporary redness, mild swelling or warmth in the treated area is common and usually settles within a few hours to a few days.

Side effects may include temporary darkening of pigmentation, mild crusting or flaking, or temporary changes in skin pigmentation.

To achieve the best possible results and minimise the risk of complications, it is important to follow all pre- and post-treatment instructions provided by your clinician, including avoiding sun exposure and wearing SPF 50+ daily. Our team will guide you through every step of your treatment journey to ensure your experience is both safe and effective.

Immediately following your treatment, it is normal for the skin to appear pink to red and feel warm, similar to mild sunburn. This is an expected response and typically settles within 24–48 hours.

If you are being treated for pigmentation, you can expect the pigmented spots to temporarily become darker over the next 24–72 hours. As your skin naturally renews itself, these areas may develop a light crust before gently flaking away over the following 7–14 days, revealing a brighter and more even complexion. It is important not to pick or scratch these areas and allow them to shed naturally.

If you are being treated for vascular concerns, such as redness or visible capillaries, you may notice the area appears slightly red or flushed immediately after treatment. This is a normal response and generally settles within a few hours to a couple of days as the skin continues its natural healing process.

Recovery varies from person to person, but most clients are able to return to their normal daily activities immediately following treatment. Following your aftercare instructions, particularly avoiding sun exposure and wearing SPF 50+, will help support optimal healing and results.

The number of treatments required depends on your skin concerns, the severity of the condition and your individual response to treatment.

For pigmentation concerns such as sun damage, freckles and age spots, most clients benefit from a series of 1–3 treatments, spaced approximately 4 weeks apart.

For vascular concerns such as facial redness, rosacea and visible capillaries, a course of 3–6 treatments is generally recommended, with treatments performed every 4–6 weeks with maintenance treatments highly recommended.

Following your initial treatment plan, maintenance treatments may be recommended every 6–12 months to help maintain your results. During your consultation, your clinician will create a personalised treatment plan tailored to your skin and goals.
